Carnival Time!

We heard that there was to be a carnival in town at a local church so we decided to drop in! After we prayed, we went in, in teams of two. My team mate must have had a different appointment, because at the gate to the carnival he kept going towards the church. We exchanged glances and then parted as I kept walked into the carnival and he towards the church. As I entered the carnival midway, I noticed there were not very many customers or spectators. It was pretty empty except for a few visitors and the carnival workers who were standing around talking with each other. More people came as we were witnessing. Since this was the first outreach for some of the new WOTM students, I thought I would wait for them so I walked the midway to check it out.

I then saw two teams of two, both of them witnessing. On one team, Mary was talking to the guys operating the Super Slide. They were very interested in what Mary was saying to them so I took their picture.

As I turned to my right, Trish’s group was still engaged in a conversation. They were talking to a man inside a Lemon Hut. He was holding a large $100 gospel tract. I could tell that the man’s conscious was working, by the expression on his face. I also know the Holy Spirit was working, because I was able to take several pictures and adjust my camera without him ever looking up from what Trish was saying to him.

I started walking and heard Dennis over the noise of the carnival rides. I looked and he was about 50 or so feet away. I realized Dennis was giving a really good "open air preaching" to a man running a game with little rubber ducks. I got closer for a picture and saw that the man he was speaking to was locked on to every word coming from Dennis’ mouth. He never noticed me taking the picture but Dennis did. It didn't slow Dennis down and he never even changed his tone. I could tell the Holy Spirit was speaking directly through Dennis to this man’s conscious.

I started back to the other side of the midway when the game attendants started calling me over, not to play a game but because they wanted some of the giant $100 bills (gospel tracts) I was carrying around. These people working for the carnival were basically starving for Truth. It was such a refreshing opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus with them, they were so open. When I asked where they were going to spend eternity they weren't sure, or they knew it would not be in Heaven. I found that I didn't need to share too much about the Law of God before they knew they had broken it-that they were sinners. I spoke to them of Judgment Day and Gods penalty for sin. I related this to the natural realm here on earth by comparing an example of standing in a court room before a Judge being convicted of a serious crime and then having someone else come and pay our fine in your stead. I told them about the Cross and what Jesus has done to pay for our sins. I told them it was not just a belief in Jesus but that we had to repent and trust in Jesus and do as He commands in the Bible. I asked them what sin was so important to them that they were willing to give up Heaven and spend eternity in Hell. I asked them why they would be willing to spend eternity in Hell in order to have a few short years of doing life their way- instead of just surrendering control to God.

As Dennis said to me as we passed each other in the midway, " I know that man I was talking to is really going to be thinking of his eternal destination while he is trying to go to sleep tonight." And that’s what I asked people to do before they went to sleep- to get right with God. They were very happy to take Ray Comfort's book, "SAVE YOURSELF SOME PAIN" which tells how to get right with God and how to have a relationship with Him. I also gave them "The Pocket Testament" book of John.

I had finished one conversation I was having and saw that Diana was standing next to me. She was locked into a conversation with a young man I had planned to speak with next. I took their picture. They never even looked up.

The most memorable moment was when I saw Trish witnessing to a lady, tending one of the games. They were very much into their conversation and I could see the concern on the face of the lady Trish was talking with. Trish had her back turned to me and the lady was facing me. I was going to take a picture when I realized the lady was praying and giving her life to Jesus! I waited with such joy and then asked Trish to see if I could take their picture. She agreed and I took the picture of them and congratulated her on her decision for Jesus. That by far is the best thing I have witnessed all week. Praise God!

The 500: Vanessa

Last weekend we participated in an event called The 500. A huge group of us converged on the downtown area of Atlanta. We gave out many, many tracts and had many interesting conversations but I want to share one especially. My heart cries out for this girl-LORD PLEASE SAVE VANESSA!!

I met Shannon on the street. She was holding the hand of a rambunctious three-and-a-half-year-old boy, Tyler. Standing to the side was a very quiet girl, with her head down. Shannon wanted to know what the four of us were doing in this neighborhood. We clearly didn’t fit into this very dangerous place. I began to talk to her about her life. She told me that she lived on the streets. She said her little boy Tyler would be leaving next week to live with his father who was in the military.

We talked about sin and Hell and she listened intently. I noticed that the girl with her was also listening very carefully, with her head down. I asked Shannon if she was willing to pay for her crimes with her own soul. She thought a minute and said, “No.” I asked her if she ever thought about it before. She told me, “Many times…all the time.” I told her about the provision that God made for her. She knew about Jesus but when she realized that the demons also believe, she grew quiet. The young girl continued to listen keenly as I explained the difference between believing and trusting fully.

I told them both that to repent you had to walk in the opposite direction from your sin. You could not come to your husband with your arm around your boyfriend. Shannon wanted to pray with me right on the street. I told her that I didn’t want to talk her into it. She assured me that it was something that she wanted to do. She told me that she had tried to get another woman to pray with her earlier in the day, but the woman had refused her.

I looked at the girl and asked her if what I was telling them made sense to her. For the first time she looked up enough to meet my eyes then she nodded. I asked her name. She lowered her face toward the ground and told me it was Vanessa. I estimated her to be about 12-years-old. She was very dirty and looked very sad. Shannon prayed silently. When she was finished I looked at Vanessa and asked if she wanted to pray. She smiled and said, “I already did.” Hallelujah! Shannon gave me a big hug and Vanessa just sort of stood there. I asked her for a hug and she stood still while I hugged her. My heart broke. This area behind the civic center was not place for a little girl to be, much less spend the night. I asked Shannon if Vanessa was her daughter. She told me that Vanessa was a ‘friend’.

When we got home the next morning, I called the Atlanta Police department and asked if they could go find this little girl. The officer told me that there is a homeless shelter in the area. I told the officer that this was no place for this little girl to be and she agreed to try to find her.

May God give directions to these officers and may He provide a wonderful Christian home for this beautiful little lamb. May she grow to love Him and be a strong voice for Him!

The Witnesses

Yesterday Dennis and I went to Orlando with our friends Art and Davina, to see a great musical titled, The Witnesses. It was very interesting. It was narrated by ‘the Apostle Peter’. Peter would describe an event and then these great musicians play ansd sing. It is part of The Rock and The Rabbi Trilogy.

Afterwards, we started handing out MDB’s by just standing in the aisle and acting like each person should take one as they left-they did. When we all got out into the lobby we saw many people reading them. We wanted to make sure each person got one, so if we didn’t see one in their hand, we offered another. Many, many people asked for more.

Dennis went over to where the cast and crew were to ensure that they got theirs. I could hear him telling them that it was a ‘million dollar performance’.

As I was giving them out I handed one to a man who was with a group of about 5 people, including his wife. He said he liked them and thought they could be great tools. He told me that he taught a Bible study every Friday night.

I said, “Oh, you’re a teacher?”

He said, “Yes.”

“You need to teach this!” I felt this very strongly.

He looked surprised and just looked at me, then at the bill. I asked him and his wife if they’d seen the movie Fireproof yet. They told me they had not. I asked if they were familiar with what Kirk Cameron and Ray Comfort were doing now days. They were not sure. I told him that I would like to ‘show him something’ and asked if he would just answer honestly while I gave him the Good Person test. I told him my name and he introduced himself as Paul. When we got finished he just said, “Wow...that was great!” I could see that it had really touched him. I reassured him that the message had nothing at all to do with me, but that it had engaged his conscience. I told him that he should go to the website and order the course. “Paul, you have a team of 8 people-teach them and get out here, we need help! Time is so short now!”

As I dug into my bag for one of my cards, I noticed that he just stood still with his eyes tearing up. When I faced him again he said, “Just last night my wife and I were praying , telling the Lord that we needed something to teach these people…to motivate them-and here you are standing here telling me to teach this! I can’t believe it!” I asked if they would mind me taking a picture of them. They told me it was fine and gave me a big smile.

As I got into the car I could not help thinking that just that morning I had been asking the Lord to send laborers to the fields!!

Mat 9:36-38 But seeing the crowds, He was moved with compassion on them, because they were tired and scattered like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray to the Lord of the harvest that He will send out laborers into His harvest.

A few weeks ago Dennis and I took off on a Sunday morning and went to Illinois to visit my family. It was really the first time I had been gone for any length of time and I hated to be away from our team of evangelists! We said our goodbyes and Jeff told us not to worry-that he would send out reminders of where the outreaches would be held, etc.

We listened to Pastor Chuck Smith as we drove, as he went through the book of Acts. A few hours into our trip we got a call from Diana.
I have bluetooth in my truck but sometimes the voice quality is poor-as in this case. AGHHH! Diana was happy-I could tell that! But all I could figure out was that I thought she said she went to Cocoa Beach and 2 people got saved on the beach!!! What an awesome report from there!! I got so excited that I called Jeff and told him that Diana had some exciting news and he should call her right away. I didn't want to spoil the surprise.

We went on down the road a few hours and spent the night in Tennessee. The next day we still had about 8 hours to drive, so we got up and started out. A couple of hours into the drive Jeff called. He wanted to let us know that after he talked to Diana and heard the great news, he got so excited that he called a few people and they went stright to the local beach. He said that Rochelle had the privilege of praying with three ladies on the beach for salvation!! Then he told us that Malcolm, who is a recent graduate of the WOTM Basic class was able to pray with an eleven-year-old girl!! He was so excited he kept talking and mentioned Diana's outing again but clarified that eight people had come to Christ when she went out!!! That morning I had led two people in the nursing home to the Lord-all told a whopping 14 people came to Christ that weekend.

Heb 4:12 For the Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing apart of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

In light of this verse-what exactly was I worried about??

Sidenote: My Mom and Dad have a class in Illinois and they teach Way of the Master. They also have a website in the works called www.sowersclass.com, which you might also want to visit.

Paid For By The Republican Party But Ordained By God!

A nice lady just called me to remind me to vote. I let her know that she was actually the eighth one to call me from the Republican Party. She sighed and apologized profusely. I let her know that I have already voted (absentee ballot) and she let me know that the call was paid for by the Republican Party.

I said, "I have a question for you before you go."

"I'll try to answer it for you."

"If Hell is a real place, do you want to be warned?"

Silence..."If...what?"

I repeated the question.

She repeated the question back to me and then said, "I believe in Hell."

"So you believe in Heaven and Hell? Where will you go when you die?"

"Oh, I'm going to Heaven." I could hear the smile in her voice.

"Oh. Well, how do you know?"

"She said proudly, "Because I'm a good person."

OK now the bell was going off in my head...I love this! "OK, let's see if that's true." I asked her about lying, stealing and taking God's name in vain. She got very quiet. I asked her name and she told me it was Mary. I quoted Hebrews 9:27 and then asked her how she thought she would fare if God judged her today.

"I think I'm in trouble!"

"Where will you go since you've been pronounced 'guilty' under the Law?"

"Somewhere very hot!"

"Do you know what God did for you so that you would not have to go there?"

"He gave His life for me."

"So you know what He did for you-so do the demons. They've known Him alot longer that you have. Are they going to Heaven?"

"No!"

"2,000 years ago God took the form of a man. He laid His life down and rose again 3 days later-to pay for you so that you could avoid Hell! There is a difference in believing and trusting." I gave her the parachute illustration and she listened without saying a word. I told her that two things were required: repentence-that is turning away from her sin and faith in Jesus Christ.

Mary thanked me for talking to her and said she really enjoyed the conversation. I could tell that someone was now there with her on the other end. She said, "I need to tell you that this call is paid for by the Republican Party."

I replied, "Paid for by the Republican Party Mary, but ordained by God. I hope to see you one day in Heaven!"

She said, "Thank you!"

We have our civic duty and should consider it a privilege to vote. But no matter who gets into office God is still on His throne and He alone is in control!

Rev 20:11 And I saw a great white throne, and Him sitting on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away. And a place was not found for them.

The Veil Was Taken Away!

Going from room to room this morning was nice, seeing familiar faces and saying hello. But I am always looking for the new person…someone who perhaps has not heard the Truth!

This morning I looked at the names on the doorways and saw one I didn’t recognize. Well, I did and I didn’t. Although I did not know this lady I have seen the name before. It is the name of one of the 12 tribes of Israel. Before going in I prayed that the Lord would speak to her and show her Truth.

I said, “Hello, how are you? My name is Jennifer and I’m just a volunteer.”

“Oh, don’t say ‘just’ a volunteer. I think it’s very nice.”

“Well, I do enjoy it!” I said with a smile.

Jane told me that she is down in Florida visiting her family and she ended up in the hospital. She was transferred here a few days ago.

“I don’t know what happened but I fell again last night. I hope it doesn’t set me back. I am supposed to go home on Monday!”

“Have you talked to your doctor?” I asked.

“Not yet, but my son said, ‘Mom, you need to come home, then you will begin to feel better.’ I have two sons, one of them lives in Israel.” She smiled as she said this.

“I think your son is right and I am sure that everything will be better at home. Do you live with them?” Although she had already told me she was on vacation, I always ask a few questions to try and gauge the person’s mental status, while I am talking with them.

“Oh no, I live in New York and I was down here on vacation and then I ended up in the hospital! My son wants me to move down here permanently so that I will be closer to him and to my daughter. My grandkids all agree with him. I guess I will have to make some changes soon. Do you like it here?”

“I love the winters here. My favorite place for breakfast closed up so I’m looking for a new one, but when that gets settled I will be happy again.” We both smiled at that.

Saturday is often a visiting day for family so I always try to ‘get in and get out’ because once someone comes to visit, my time with them is finished-even if they try to listen the family often gets aggravated.

For the life of me now I cannot remember what it was that Jane said to begin our conversation…oh, I think she told me that her husband, D. was in Heaven now….

I smiled. “So you believe in Heaven and Hell?”

“Oh, I believe in Heaven but not Hell.”

“The Scripture actually makes more references about Hell than Heaven. Do you know why?” She shook her head from side to side. “Because God was trying to warn us about it-to avoid it! What kind of people go to Heaven? Good people?”

She smiled and said, “Yes.”

“Are you a good person?”

“I try to be.” She answered.

“I would like to give you a little test I call the Good Person test. I know that you will know the answers because the questions are from the Law of Moses, and I know that you are familiar with that. I will ask you to be honest when you take this test. OK?”

Then she laughed and tried to get me off of the subject. Somewhere in here I had told her that my husband was Jewish. She said to me, "What does your husband think of all of this-does he believe it, too?"

"Yes, He does." After a moment I said, “Let’s go back to that test…In your lifetime, how many lies have you told?”

Jane seemed a little taken aback at the question but recovered and laughed it off. I smiled and then asked again, looking straight at her.

“Well, many I’m sure.”

After I had taken Jane thru the Law, I paused for a moment to discuss the Passover. I always do this with someone who is Jewish. This is the way I introduce them to Yeshua (Greek name Jesus).

“What do you celebrate at the Passover?”

“The Exodus of the Jews from Egypt.”

“Remember what they did the night before leaving? They took the lamb and slew it, then put the blood on the doorposts. Remember?”

“Yes.”

“Why did they have to put blood on the doorposts?”

“So the firstborn would not be killed.”

“Right, the Angel of Death would pass over the house! Now let’s go back to that courtroom where you stand before The Righteous Judge and He has just pronounced you ‘guilty’ under the Law. Into the back of the courtroom comes a man. He rushes to the front of the courtroom and says, ‘Wait-please! I am willing to pay for Jane. Please take the handcuffs off of her and put them on me!’ Do you know who that is Jane? Who would be willing to pay for you?”

She paused and said nothing.

“It’s Yeshua! He is God’s Passover Lamb, sent for you. He is the Lamb of God, slain to take away the sins of the world. Yeshua, the Messiah!”

Her hand flew to her mouth as her heart turned to God…”How did I miss that???" The look on her face was one of horror. "I knew I should have read my Bible!" (I hate to think of all the people who will stand before The Righteous Judge with this thought in their mind!)

I went on to explain that although Yeshua died for all of our sins it was not automatically applied-we had to apply it. “He has done everything He needs to do! If I bring your favorite cookies in here for you and I’ve done all the shopping and baking…then I’ve done everything I can do. They are not yours until you reach out, and eat them.”

I explained that two things were necessary for participation in this process: repentance and faith in Yeshua.

Jane bowed her head and prayed silently. When she was finished I prayed for her aloud. She squeezed my hand and thanked me many times for coming to talk to her. We discussed the fact that it was not a coincidence, she heartily agreed. As I was leaving she said again, “I have two Bibles at home, I must start reading them now!”

Although she is 86 years old, she has just had the veil lifted from her heart!!

2 Corinthians 3:15-17 But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the veil is upon their heart.
Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the veil shall be taken away.
Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Now, I cannot see with my eyes whether the veil was indeed lifted, but I know God can.

Darkness Does Not Rule!

I started handing out tracts last night at the local shopping plaza. We picked this plaza because of the large number of kids that hang out around there on Friday nights. Recently the movie theater in the plaza closed, that in addition to a huge increase in police patrolling had greatly reduced the number of kids this Friday evening. I had just started handing out tracts when I noticed a young lady about 16 years old by herself, dressed in Goth. She seemed to be waiting or looking for someone. I walked up and held out a Million Dollar Bill tract (MDB) to her and asked, "Did you get one of these". She did not move; no smile just a blank glare. She didn’t even as so much to lift a finger towards the tract and replied, "No, I don’t want one." I smiled and said okay and walked away to find softer ground.

There weren't many people out, so I walked the length of the shopping plaza and turned around to retrace my steps. The young lady I had just passed was still standing where I had greeted her. I walked in front of her, made eye contact and smiled as I walked past. All I got was a glare. I walked to the opposite side continuing to hand out tracts and then turned around to go back once again. This time as I approached the area where the girl had been, there were five others with her, all dressed in Goth. Their ages ranged from around 12 to 16 years old. Two other girls and three boys. They were running my way, but were on their way past in a hurry to do something. I recognized one of the boys as Douglas; he goes by “Runt ". Stacy and I met him last Friday night while handing out tracts. Our conversation with Runt had been cut short by a distraught lady who pulled up in a car and called him away to talk with him. We later found out she was looking for her runaway daughter. As the youths were passing by I stuck out my hand and gave them some MBD tracts. They grabbed them saying things like, "Wow!” and “ Cool!" The young lady I had originally tried to give one to still didn’t even want to look at it and refused again to take one in her hand even though the rest of her friends had. Just as I had placed one of the tracts in the hand of another girl about 14 years old she shrieked and yelled "It is of God!" and promptly shoved it back in my hand. I was taken aback by her reaction and as they continued quickly past me I thought that they might be into what seems to be commonly practiced by the youth in the area- Wicca. (The practice of witchcraft or Satanism, or both.) I continued on, thinking I would like to get a chance to talk to them some more, when my witnessing partner Stacy, called to tell me that she had arrived. When I realized that Stacy was standing near the group of kids I said, "Hold them, I will be right over." But, by the time I got there they had moved on and it became obvious they weren't going to have anything to do with us. I looked to see that Stacy was wearing a red wrist band like me. I told her that since we had come out into our "hood" it was good we were wearing our colors. We started handing out tracts to passersby and seemed to be getting a lot of rejection. Stacy said "I don't know what’s going on? I’ve never seen anyone not willing at least to look at a million dollar bill before, there seems to be a lot of opposition to the gospel here."

I agreed and we prayed right there for God to come and soften the hearts of the people around us and against anything that was not from Him. We then noticed a lady standing near us and when we looked toward her she smiled as she saw us praying. Stacy said, "Let's go talk with her." We gave her a MDB and she took it in her hand. I said " It's a gospel tract, it has a million dollar question on it," She said "What’s that?" I said, "Will you go to heaven when you die." She smiled and said, "Absolutely". As politely as I could, with a smile asked "Why is that?" She immediately replied she was saved and baptized at the age of six. Stacy said, “That is great.” Then asked where she went to church. She said she was regularly attending ‘a church’. I asked her name and Stacy noticed the many tattoos on this lady. Not being critical, but trying to relate to her, Stacy told her that she like some of her tats. At the same time I noticed the group of kids headed back our way. I said " I sure would like a chance to talk to those kids." The lady said, "Oh those are my kids." I asked, "All of them?" She said, “No just one, but the rest of them are at my house all the time, they might as well live there." I told her of their reaction when I tried to give them a tract and her reply was, "Oh yeah, kids will be kids- they are practicing Wiccans you know." I was not really surprised, just very sad. Just as she said that to us, a car pulled up and she said, “There’s my ride, got to go.” In an instant she was gone. The group of kids that were headed our way spotted us and made a detour going behind the shopping plaza. Stacy noticed that they were avoiding us and that they were going to come back through at the other end by the closed theater. We decide to position ourselves to intercept them. We found a good place to meet up with them again and started handing out tracts. We got involved in a conversation with someone, when they came right to the place we were standing and quickly went into a shop. I thought ‘man they’re fast I missed them again but now I have them! I'll just wait till they come out’.

It was then that another young man named Luke walked up. He was about 14 years old. He was trying to catch-up with the Wiccans but had not met up with them yet, so he was still unaware that they were avoiding me. I gave him a MBD and it got his attention. I cut right to the chase. I asked him if he were to die today would he go to Heaven or Hell. He said Hell. As Stacy and I were speaking to him about his eternal destiny, Luke's friends came out. The girl who had shrieked when I tried to give her a gospel tract earlier came up to Luke and tried to drag him away. I looked at her and now she seemed very agitated. I said, “We are discussing with Luke his eternal destination, about the reality of Heaven and Hell and that these are very real places that we are going to spend eternity in- one or the other!” At this her appearance changed a lot. Her eyes got really big and she began rapidly glancing from side to side. She got behind Luke while looking at Stacy and me and put her arms around him, as if to drag him away from us. She now looked like a rabid dog and was showing her teeth and began to snarl at us! She leaned forward, kissing Luke and said, “We are taking him to Hell with us." At that I said that Hell was a very real place and was to be taken very seriously and told her that God doesn’t want anyone to go there. She and the rest of her friends left right away, leaving Luke behind. I don’t think they wanted to hear about the things of God and I know God was with us! That’s why they left us alone with Luke, so we could speak to him some more about Jesus and our eternal destination. I asked Luke if he had ever gone to church or if he has ever heard the Gospel of Jesus. He said he had gone to church and that tonight wasn’t the first time someone had told him about Jesus. We told Luke of the need not only to believe in Jesus but to put on the Salvation of Jesus by turning away from sin and living for Him. That even Satan and the demons believe in God but that the only way to heaven is through Jesus. We warned him about hardening his heart to Jesus and to stay away from witchcraft and the practice of magic and Satan worship. He said he was not ready to give his life to Jesus. I gave him some more in depth Biblical reading materials like The 4 Spiritual Laws. Stacy and I encouraged Luke to think very seriously think about what we told him. We told him that when he laid his head down to sleep for the night he should pray that God will reveal Himself to him.

My point is that we are in a very real battle for the salvation of the lost. We who are saved- who know the truth and are Gods chosen need to stop cowering in our fox holes. We are at war! The truth is we are surrounded by the enemy, what are we going to do? Are we going to wait for the inevitable attack come to us? Or are we going to jump out of our fox hole, get up off our pews and charge! We cannot lose. Jesus has won! As I read recently, we need to take up the battle cry "No guts, No glory!" and charge! I have determined that it is appointed for man once to die then the Judgment. (Hebrews 9:27)

Well, when I go I won't be hiding in my safe place. I want to go out in a BLAZE OF HIS GLORY!
